Challenges towards practical application of anaerobic membrane bioreactor for municipal wastewater treatment
Anaerobic membrane bioreactor (AnMBR) is a proming green technology in municipal wastewater treatment since it can effectively convert organcis in wastewater to biogas and provide high-quality effluent. However, stable operation at ambient temperature, cost effective fouling control stratagies, dissolved methane recovery, integration with additional functions such as nitrogen removal and phsophorus recovery are still challenges towards practical application of AnMBR. This presentation will sumarize the current status of AnMBR technology for municipal wastewater treatment. The key bottlenecks and future challenges will be also addressed.
